SourceCloud were tasked with building a new AWS infrastructure, The new infrastructure was designed and implemented using a fully scripted solution. It included all the necessary components to run the farming forum with XenForo 2.1 running in a High Availability mode (HA) providing resilience against web-server, database and data centre failures. Whilst providing a cost-effective solution, suitable backups and recovery solutions.

WHAT WAS THE SOLUTION?
SourceCloud implemented the new infrastructure design based on an agreed diagram. The design ensured maximum resilience against failure as well as implementing scalable web servers to provide a cost-effective solution. Each Availability Zone represents a separate geographic location, meaning should Availability Zone ‘A’ fail, then all traffic will be routed to Availability Zone ‘B’. Under normal conditions, traffic will be balanced between Zones A & B with the Master Database constantly mirroring to the Slave Database.
The infrastructure was implemented using Infrastructure as Code, meaning it was fully automated and could be built from the ground up using a script. Both UAT and Live were deployed automatically on demand, using a fully automated DevOps pipeline. All deployments were fully scripted to maximise deployment times and reduce human error.
